542 East Productions in association with C-level Productions and 411-Snow Video Magazine is currently producing a back-country awareness DVD-Video to bring the excitement and dangers of winter back country sports to the masses. Winter back-country activities have been around for decades, but with the substantial increase in popularity of sports such as snowboarding, skiing, and snowmobiling, thousands more people are venturing past the safety of ski resorts into Mother Natures backyard.
In the age of digital TV, video games and the internet, typical winter back country is portrayed as beautiful, untouched and awesome. Who wouldnt want to go into the back country to find a hidden powder line amidst a busy ski area weekend. But wait
what the media doesnt show is the extreme dangers of heading into the virgin snow fields beyond ski area boundaries. Avalanches and un-predictable snow conditions have taken too many lives over the past decade.
The production of a back-country awareness video will begin the educational process of our kids (and adults) who desire to discover the awe of winter
mountain back-country. Headed by Todd Franzen of 411 Video magazine, snowboard video veterans, Bernadette Castner of Mt Baker and Scott Baxter of Juneau, Alaska will work closely will professional snowboarders, skiers and ski resort management to produce a DVD-video, due out this fall.
The DVD-Video will be a tribute to the king of back-country himself, legendary snowboarder Craig Kelly, who died in an avalanche last spring. |
